Please note that as of July 2, 2023 EAs are now called IESW’s and is combined with the ABA department.  At this point your Shop Steward is still the EA Shop Stewards.  Once we determine how the IESW department will be split up, we will ensure that our membership is informed

May 31th IESW (EA/ABA Unit Meeting Notes)

IESW1, IESW2, IESW3

IESW1: not child centred, works with all students, except IESW2 & IESW3 students (unless trained)

IESW2: medical, child centred, as well working with no medical students, except IESW3 (unless trained)

IESW3: intensive behaviour, child centred, as well as working with other students, except IESW2 (unless trained)

Posting Meeting

When: June 30, 2022, 8am

Where: Bell Performing Arts Centre, 6250 144 Street (in person)

What is Posting: when you are successfully awarded a position at this meeting, it is a continuous position as long as your seniority/school hours permits

How to see available positions: will be posted on the HUB June 26 after 4pm, make sure you re-check the day (June 29) prior to the meeting in the late afternoon/evening

What to bring: any & all certifications, list of positions desired, pen, paper, snack/drink

Do I have to attend in person: YES!!  If you wish to obtain a position at a new school you MUST attend in person.

Approval to submit request in via e-mail will only be granted if you are on an approved leave. Submissions with your choices MUST submitted to HR & Cc the Union Office no later the June 29 & 1:30pm. Anything later according to the time stamp on HR receiving the e-mail even 1min will not be accepted.

 

Bumping Meeting

 

When: August 2, 2022 @ 8:30am

Where: DEC, Room 2020, 14033 92 Ave

What is Bumping: when the school you posted into at a June meeting has lost hours.

How do you exercise your Bumping Rights: when you are called to the mic on June 30, you MUST advise at the mic you are exercising your BUMPING RIGHTS.

How do I see available posting: posted on the HUB July 31, make sure you re-check the day (August 1) prior to the meeting in the late afternoon/evening

What to bring: any & all certifications, list of positions desired, pen, paper, snack/drink

Do I have to attend in person: NO, however, you must have your choices submitted to HR & Cc the Union Office no later the August 1 & 1:30pm. Anything later according to the time stamp on HR receiving the e-mail even 1min will not be accepted.

Placement Meeting

 

When: August 8, 2022 @ 8 am

Where: Bell Performing Arts Centre, 6250 144 Street (in person)

What is Placement: is a temporary position that can be for any length of time, you can lose this position at any time during the school year, and you are considered a SpareBoard employee, days that you are not scheduled to work you will be on call

How do I see available posting: posted on the HUB on August 4

What to bring: any & all certifications, list of positions desired, pen, paper, snack/drink

Do I have to attend in person: YES!! There will be no exceptions, if you are unable to attend or do not get an assignment you will receive a call out either in late August & throughout the school year

Am I now have a permanent position: NO!! You are considered a SpareBoard Employee

  • How do know if I am SpareBoard: obtaining an assignment at the Placement meeting or anytime after you are considered a SpareBoard Employee
  • Will this school be my forever home: NO!! This means you can lose/gain hours & or your position.
  • What happens if I lose my position: you will be placed back in the call-out cue
  • What happens if I dont get calls from Dispatch: Call/e-mail to ensure they have your correct number on file as well as check ESS/TEAMS
  • Do I have to be available every day: YES!! It is advised at the time of hiring you are expected to be available M-F
  • When does the Dispatch system call you: the night before 6 pm-9 pm, the day of 5:45 am-9 am
  • Can I decline a position: NO!! We can not pick or choose our assignments
