CANCELED – CUPE 728 Movie Night

Due to the heavy rain that is expected throughout the evening of August 15, the outdoor movie night has been canceled for everyone’s safety. We will do our best to reschedule. However, don’t forget we have a Welcome Back BBQ on Sept 20th.  See you there

This vote will be for all 728 members.  Please be sure you have been inducted to the union so you can vote

Rally for Public Education

The rally will be from 2:30 – 4:00 pm on the back steps.

Here are the three asks that are based on Surrey’s 3 asks for the MoECC mandate letter, back in December

  1. Substantial Capital Funding for School Infrastructure with a Plan to Address Chronic Underfunding and Expedite Development.
  2. Adjusted Funding for Inflation and Living Costs
  3. Fully Fund Inclusive Education and Wraparound Support Services

Our calls to action are for the government to take responsibility, create a plan that moves all districts towards fully funded, inclusive education, and protect the integrity of educational program funding while providing the structure for multi-ministry services to our communities.

Schools are community hubs and our largest social safety net. Stop cramming services through them without the appropriate funding.

For this rally, our focus is to elevate the parent/caregiver and student voice – centering the family experience.
